A hectare is a square 100 m on each side (10,000 m²). An acre is 43,560 square feet, which is 4,046.8564224 m² because a foot is exactly 0.3048 m. Dividing the two gives 10,000 ÷ 4,046.8564224 = 2.4710538 acres per hectare.

Example: a 12 ha farm × 2.4710538 = 29.65 acres. Going the other way, divide acres by 2.4710538 (or multiply by 0.404686) to get hectares.
